Trips

c4

In 2004 my wife Bobbie and I moved away from the cold weather of Indiana for the warmth of the desert and Cave Creek Arizona. With that came lots of adventure in my native west (although I am really from California) such as spending time in Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona.

Brothers Oregon Coast Trail July 2008

c5For our second annual brothers backpacking trip at the end of July 2008, we ventured towards Rees’part of the country and hiked the Oregon Coast trail. We had varied weather from heavy fog on the first two days to clear skies and views of the Pacific Ocean on the last. The trip was not as strenuous as the Grand Canyon but much more tactically challenging when it turned out that the site we though were available for camping were not. The last two days of the hike covered about 29 miles of coastal hiking.

There is also a detailed trip log, which outlines the wows we had when trying to plan the trip.

Brothers Grand Canyon April 2007

c3I also had the backpacking trip of a life time in the Grand Canyon with my brothers and and Bobbie's son Brock. We took the Kaibab Trail down to the Colorado River and back again Via the Bright Angel Trail all in three days. We were warned about the climb out by others who had made the trek. Man, were they right…couldn't walk upright for a week.

Spindleruv Mlyn, CZ

In the middle of 2007 I had the opportunity to work on the largest Altiris project every undertaken. Bobbie and I headed to Prague for work and also get our first look at as much of Europe as we could see considering my work schedule.

c5Before Bobbie showed up in August of 2007, I was asked to go mountain biking in Spindleruv Mlyn near the Polish boarder with Tomas Novak, a co-worker. The views were so spectacular and area so quiet that I returned three months later with Bobbie to hike the same route I biked earlier in the year. Yes, hiking was a lot easier than biking up the mountain trails.

Salzburg, AT

c2Bobbie and I also visited Salzburg, Austria. Although the fortress on the top of the hill over looking the city center was fabulous, our favorite part of the entire trip was a gondola ride to the top of the mountain in Heilbronn. The views were amazing from 3000 meters as was the beer and the company at a little pub at the top of the mountain.

We have enjoyed many other weekend trips from Prague to cities like Berlin and Bratislava.
